Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the digital transformation of media, the various technologies that have enabled this process, as well as new business models that have emerged as a result of the implemented changes. Successful and unsuccessful transformation examples are also mentioned. The changes that digital transformation of media and new business models in media industry represent for society are considered, from positive aspects such as faster access to information, cost reduction, and greater integration, to negative aspects such as social exclusion, easier spread of misinformation, and potential loss of privacy. In the modern world, digital transformation of media is a process that cannot be avoided, since digital technologies have deeply penetrated into all aspects of our existence. What needs to be taken into account is that digital transformation of media should be implemented in a responsible way, with an awareness of potential challenges and problems that may arise, as only then can the undeniable benefits be maximized.
