Abstract

The times in which we live have shown us that the artist, even in the harshest conditions of life, finds the strength to speak in the way of art. The artist now feels like a rebel and knows that his creative spirit knows no respite because creation is a prerequisite for the survival of humanity. The artist feels that his works must overcome one destructive moment in which man finds himself in the present moment. Artists transform irrational-destructive forces into constructive-creative forces, where the instinct of life overcomes the instinct of death with great difficulty. The poverty of the spirit of today’s man is also in the fact that he is increasingly turning to science, which itself still has no answers to the questions and challenges posed to man. Without the need for transcendence, everyday life is apparently disappearing. The contemporary artist is a rebel against such a state, because works of art try to transcend reality. The world we live in looks like a fabricated world without freedom, but with a media-like illusion of humanism. In such a world, the artist, and man in general, is deprived of the right to true artistic creation, and thus freedom. The rebellion of the contemporary artist is a rebellion against the lack of freedom packaged in the so-called well-being and care for man. To be a creator means to be a free man who thinks, speaks and thinks critically, who clearly states his position without fear of condemnation or repression. To be an artist-rebel means to be a man who seeks and shows the truth in reality, the truth that eludes the common man in the media matrix. This is a task set by artists of the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century.
