Instructions to Authors

Journal Society and Politics publishes original, previously unpublished papers in the field of social sciences and humanities or related fields (interdisciplinary papers).

Each paper is subject to a review process. Reviewed articles are accepted for publication based on at least two positive reviews. The review procedure is carried out according to the principle of "double blind" review, ie. the identity of the author is unknown to the reviewer, and the identity of the reviewer is unknown to the author. Also, the identity of the reviewer remains unknown to the public.

Reviewed papers are classified into the following categories:

(1) The original scientific article is in principle organized according to the IMRAD scheme for experimental research or in a descriptive way for descriptive scientific fields, in which for the first time a text is published about the results of own research achieved by applying scientific methods, which are textually described, which can be repeated if necessary, and the established facts can be verified.
(2) A review scientific article is a review of the latest papers on a particular subject area in order to summarize, analyze, evaluate or synthesize already published information, and bring new syntheses that also necessarily include the results of the author's own research.
(3) A brief communication is a paper, but of a smaller or preliminary nature, in which some elements of IMRAD can be omitted, and it is a summary of the results of completed original research work or an emerging article (Working Paper).
(4) Scientific critique or review is a discussion on a certain scientific topic, based exclusively on scientific argumentation, in which the author proves the correctness of a certain criterion of his opinion, ie confirms or refutes the findings of other authors.
(5) Professional paper

In addition to categorized papers, the journal also publishes uncategorized papers, ie reviews of relevant scientific works in the field covered by the journal, which have been published in the country and abroad, as well as translations, interviews, reports and other types of articles as needed.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

(1) Lenght of the manuscript

- Original scientific article: up to 32 text cards *
- Brief communication: up to 16 text cards
- Review article: up to 32 text cards
- Scientific critique or review: up to 16 text cards
- Professional paper: up to 16 text cards
- Book review: up to 8 text cards
- Report: up to 4 text cards
- Other: as required

* Text card = 1800 characters (including spaces and footnotes)

(2) Mandatory elements of the manuscript:

Each paper must contain the following elements:

- Name and surname of the author
- Name of the author's home institution/affiliation
- E-mail address of the author
- Full title (and subtitle) of the article (up to 15 words)
- Abstract of the article in the official languages in RS and BiH (up to 300 words) and in English.
- Keywords (up to 5)
- List of references (list of used literature)

Papers are written in Times New Roman font, size 12, spacing 1.

Abstract - The abstract in the language of the paper is located just below the title and should not exceed 300 words in length. The summary should provide a brief and clear insight into the research problem, methodological frameworks, results and conclusion of the research. At the end of the summary there should be keywords (up to five). An abstract in English is at the end of the paper, following the bibliography.

An abstract in English is required for all papers accepted for publication and should be about 500 words in length. It describes in more detail than a summary the problems, methods, results and conclusions of the research.

Tables - Tables should be made in Word format or transferred from statistical packages to Word. Above each table should be the number and name of the table, in the top row the number, and below that the adequate name of the table. Both the table name and the table itself should have a left alignment. Tables that are particularly large (exceeding the journal page format without margins: 200 x 130 mm) need to be adapted to the magazine format.

Graphics - Graphics and images must be submitted in electronic form as separate files (images in png or jpg format, and graphics preferably in vector format). Their place in the paper (along with the description) should be clearly marked in the text, in a separate line. The name of the graphic or image should match the name as given in the text. In the case of graphics and images taken from other authors, the written consent of the author (or copyright holder) is required. The name is written below the graph. Both graphs and their names should have a central alignment.

Results - The results of statistical analyzes should be presented as follows: t (638) = 3.91, p <.01) or F (2, 6) = 14.88, p <.00 or χ² (5, N = 417) = 5.31, r> .05. The values ​​of the numbers are rounded to two decimal places and the decimal numbers are written with a dot (eg M = 2.55). All decimal records should be rounded to two decimal places, except when specific parameters are stated (eg indicators of compliance with the tested model). In cases when the value of the obtained statistics is less than 1.00, zero is not written in front of the point.

Citation - Citation should be in accordance with the guidelines of the American Psychological Association style (APA Format-7th Edition). The citation should be accompanied by an appropriate reference with the page number of the citation used.

Citing references in the text - The names of the authors are written in the original, in Latin script (non-Latin letters are transcribed), e.g. (Zuckerman, 1991) with the obligatory citation in brackets. In cases where the reference includes two authors, both are cited in the text, e.g. (Zuckerman and Kuhlman, 1993). If the reference contains three or more authors, only the first author and the abbreviations "et al." and the year, e.g. (Aluja et al., 2006) for a reference signed in 2006 by the authors: Aluja, A., Rossier, J., Garcia, L.F., Angleitner, A., Kuhlman, M., and Zuckerman, M.). If the paper contains references from the same year with the same first and different other authors, the authors needed to distinguish them are listed. When the quote is taken literally, it is necessary to indicate the page number, e.g. (Janković, 2020, p. 14).

List of references - References are listed in alphabetical order according to the author's surnames. The list of literature can contain only the references given by the author in the paper. When a paper includes several references by the same author, independent references are given first according to the year of publication, and then according to the alphabetical order of references with other authors. References by the same author from the same year are marked with the letters a, b, c, e.g. Jorgić, 2006a; Jorgić, 2006b.

Footnotes - do not use footnotes to cite literature, but only for notes and explanations.

Abbreviations - The use of abbreviations is allowed only for the extremely common terms or with their clear connection with the term they stand for.
